|House Bill 1440 - As part of a legislative package that will benefit the Pennsylvania farming
community, the PA House has passed legislation, authored by Representative Karen Boback, to
address the issue of a farming structure that will help extend the growing season for area crops.

|State Representative Karen Boback, Ph.D. was elected in 2006 to serve the 117th Legislative District in the
Pennsylvania House of Representatives. She is now serving her fifth term as State Representative. Since Karen
is a lifelong resident of Northeastern Pennsylvania, she understands the issues facing her district.
Representative Boback works hard to be Accessible, Approachable and Attentive to the citizens of her district.
She is a founding member of the Luzerne/Wyoming Counties Elder Abuse Task Force and an advocate for the
protection of our environment. Representative Boback authored House Bill 1420 which mandates pulse
oximetry testing for newborns. This test is one of the effective ways to detect potentially life-threatening heart
defects. The bill was signed into law as Act 94 of 2014.
In 2015, Representative Boback was selected by House Majority Whip, Brian Cutler, to serve as the chairman
of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Welfare.
For the 2015-2016 legislation session Karen Boback serves on the
|House Resolution 898 - A Resolution recognizing May 25, 2016, as "National Missing
Children's Day" in Pennsylvania and urging participation in child protection.
|House Bill 2312 - An Act amending Title 3 (Agriculture) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, in food protection, further providing for retail food facility and employee cleanliness.
|House Bill 1476 - This bill establishes the Counterfeit Airbag Prevention Act and prohibits
certain conduct relating to counterfeit airbags in vehicles.
|House Resolution 1070 - the resolution was introduced in response to a rising number of
thefts involving dangerous prescription drugs, particularly from senior citizens; and the need
to build awareness about the risks of not storing drugs in a secure location.
|House Resolution 760 - Designates March 31, 2016 as "C.A.S.U.A.L Day" in PA.
C.A.S.U.A.L. stands for Colon Cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives.
|House Bill 2276 - An Act amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in particular rights and immunities, providing for civil
immunity for use of force in motor vehicle rescue. e.g. Rescuing a child left in a hot vehicle.
|House Bill 494 - An Act amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, providing for the offense of failure of duty to report disappearance of a
|House Bill 1420 - Legislation that will require a pulse oximetry screening for each
newborn baby born in a hospital or freestanding birthing center in Pennsylvania. When
performed on a newborn in the delivery center, this screening is effective in detecting
life-threatening defects that would otherwise go undetected by current screening methods.
