State Representative Karen Boback has announced her bid to run for re-election in the
117th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania State House.

In making her announcement, Boback said, “I am honored by the overwhelming support
that I have received and continue to receive from the people I serve.”

The 117th District includes portions of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties, and all of
Wyoming County. Boback is seeking the Republican nomination, and has pledged to
continue providing taxpayers, and the families of Northeast Pennsylvania, with a strong
conservative voice in Harrisburg and here at home.

“I am proud that we were able to successfully address many of our priorities all while
holding state spending to less than the rate of inflation and without increasing taxes,” said
Rep. Boback. “I pledge to continue providing the conservative leadership necessary here
at home, and being a strong voice for the hard-working men and women I serve.”

A top priority for Rep. Boback has always been to pass balanced, on-time budgets that
hold the line on taxes and focus on the important priorities of district residents. Last year,
her budget vote provided record funding for education, invested in additional school safety
improvements, promoted career and technical education for our workers, increased efforts
to combat the opioid crisis and fostered economic growth all without raising taxes. “In
Pennsylvania, the improving economy has enabled us to support effective job training
programs for our workers and educational improvement for our children while saving over
$300 million dollars in the state’s Rainy Day Fund.”

Because of her diligence and background as an educator, Rep. Boback was appointed
Majority Chairman of the Children and Youth Committee, as well as an appointee to the
Children’s Trust Fund Board and the Juvenile Justice Task Force.

Rep. Boback comes from a family of military servicemen. After hard work and dedication
to veterans, she was appointed to the Geno Merli Advisory Board. “Since I became a
legislator, veterans’ issues have always been a priority. I have conducted veterans
recognition events annually. The Karen Boback Veterans Ride for Honor sponsored by
Daddow-Issacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas, PA has benefitted numerous veterans’
organizations throughout the area.”

Karen has received the “Guardian of Small Business” award presented by the NFIB. The
honor is granted to legislators who support small businesses, manufacturers and agriculture
industry across the state,

Rep. Boback has a strong reputation of working with both sides of the aisle to make PA
more competitive in keeping and attracting jobs, promoting fiscal responsibility within
state government, and making road and bridge safety an important focus for our region.

“I continue to focus on issues that impact the families who live in the three counties that
have been such an integral part of my life. I was born and raised in Lackawanna County,
spent over 47 years of my professional life in Wyoming County, and have been a resident
of Luzerne County for over 50 years, Said Rep. Boback. This district truly is my home.”

Rep. Boback is dedicated to her constituents and to the hard working taxpayers of our
state. In her last two general elections, she received over 80% of the vote.
